112 Pets in Sabira Island Vaccinated and Sterilized

Seribu Island Food Security, Marine and Agriculture (KPKP) Sub-agency conducted sterilization and anti-rabies vaccination for 112 pets in Sabira Island, Harapan Island Urban Village, Seribu Utara District.

We sterilized 45 male cats and 67 female cats

Seribu Island KPKP Sub-agency Head, Nurliati said the activity was a collaboration with Let's Adopt Indonesia (LAI) community. The vaccination and sterilization are routinely held in other islands to control cat population and maintain Jakarta free of rabies.

"We sterilized 45 male cats and 67 female cats. Our initial target was 100 cats," she said, Friday (4/25).

2,514 Animals in West Jakarta Vaccinated against Rabies

The sterilization was run with Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) method.

"We deployed eight doctors and companions," she added.

According to her, the sub-agency is targeting to sterilize 900 cats in Seribu Island. It is hoped the activity will give positive impact of the environment.

"The activity lasts up to the end of this year. Next destination is Seribu Selatan Island areas," she continued.

Meanwhile, RW 03 Sabira Island Head, Muhammad Ali Kurniawan appreciated the sterilization and vaccination in the area.

"The vaccination is important to prevent us and pets from rabies. Thanks for caring our environment," he admitted.
